For years Seagate has been my favorite brand for hard disks because they usually have better seeking time, better data transfer, offer better warranty and are exceptionally quiet. I purchased the disk exclusively because I like the brand and wanter to use it as a back up for my aging 500GB WD Passport Elite. The very first time I tried to copy all data (about 300GB) from the WD to my spanking brand new 1.5TB seagate, my computer froze. This computer is an aging Windows XP computer, which gets hung on regular basis because of memory leak problems, so I thought that was the case. My second attempt was on my newer Windows 7 computer; this time I ran a full backup (about 150GB of data) of my computer and it ran fine; then I copied about 120GB of videos from my WD into the Seagate again successfully; then then I selected a bunch of folders with many thousand files totaling about 150GB, and BANG! my computer froze again and had to reboot. On reboot I decided to look for reviews and possible issues with this drive, and what do you know? more than just a few people reported very similar problems. Still, I tried one more time, this time copying a smaller music and pictures folder (about 30GB) in my computer and THERE IT GOES AGAIN! I started to get read errors on my internal drive until my computer finally froze and...reboot. Then, just to verify my internal drive did not have a problem, I copied the same folder to my WD with no problem. At this time, I could not take it anymore, the drive had to go back to the store after only a couple of days, good thing that store was COSTCO, where they take your merchandise back with little explanation. Don't know what the problem is, could just be the USB 3.0 cable, who knows, but I wasn't willing to fool around too much trying to figure it out; sorry :(

I have purchase over a dozen of these and they all work perfectly. The best part is not having a power supply to work with. Be aware though that you can only put two of them on 1 USB port. After that there is not enough power to support more than the 2 drive.

Small, Compact, works great, silent, colorful for data organization, nice capacity level. And at $59.00 for 500 GB - how could you go wrong. Amazon had the best price on these by far, but I know they fluctuate.

I'd complained about GoFlex eSATA wire not working. But I tested GoFlex 1.5TB with eSATA cable yesterday. The cable worked within 10GB data transfer and costing around 4 mins. On the other hand, 1TB GoFlex would get stuck on around 5GB transfer. So, this product may not compatible with eSATA cable.
Anyone who doesn't have USB 3.0 ports isn't a suitable customer to buy this product. The one whose computer has only USB2.0 is better to buy USB2.0 GoFlex. Or, maybe don't buy this product and GoFlex eSATA cable and want to use these two products together.
